Julie Hamilton has over 20 years in Human Resources as a Manager/Director with the last 9 years in healthcare. She was able to educate co-workers especially nursing professionals on the treatment and management of living with fibromyalgia. During her career, she has developed good people skills thru employee coaching/counseling, developing and leading mentor groups, managing employees and training, and development within different organizations. Julie has worked with the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) since its inception in 1993. She knows the requirements and can advise you on the necessities when working with your employer when you have a chronic disease. After a car accident and neck surgery in 2008, Julie suffered widespread body pain. In early 2009, she was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. At times, Fibromyalgia prevented her from working, attending her childrens activities or doing the things she loved. After learning more about the disease and the underlying issues that cause flare-ups, Julie no longer takes Fibromyalgia medications and lives a full life again.
