A solar battery or energy storage is a device that is placed on your home or business to store the energy that is produced by your solar panels. Most solar systems are grid-tied systems which mean they are connected to the power grid. If you do not have a solar battery then the production of your solar panels is sent back to the grid when you produce more than your consumption. When you under produce you will pull from the grid. Installing a solar battery will allow you to store the energy you have produced instead of sending it to the grid. If you need to pull energy that you would use the energy stored in your battery rather than pulling from the grid.
