Nevada Mining Association

Nevada Mining Association The Nevada Mining Association is a venerable organization headquartered in Reno, NV, dedicated to preserving Nevada's status as a prominent mineral-producing state. Since the 1850s gold and silver rush that led to Nevada's statehood in 1864, mining has remained a cornerstone of the state's economy, especially in rural areas. While representing just 4.1% of the state's GDP, the industry's significance cannot be underestimated, as it continues to supply the essential minerals our society depends on, including gold, silver, copper, and more. This industry provides employment to 11,000 people, primarily in rural Nevada, with an average annual wage of $93,444, making it a vital economic lifeline for these communities. The Nevada Mining Association, founded in 1913 as the Nevada Mine Operators Association and later renamed in 1952, plays a central role in shaping mining policy in the state legislature and local governments. It serves as the collective voice of the industry in public relations, advocating for responsible mining practices and the well-being of the communities it operates in. The Nevada mining industry, spread across one of the largest and most sparsely populated states in the U.S., encompasses diverse professions, and the association is committed to addressing the unique needs of its member companies and workers, uniting the interests of various mining sectors across Nevada. In addition to its economic significance, the Nevada mining industry prioritizes environmental stewardship and corporate responsibility. It strives to be a responsible corporate citizen, committed to sustainable practices, a well-compensated workforce, and contributing positively to the communities where it operates. By subscribing to the Nevada Mining Association's email updates, you can stay informed about their efforts to ensure the responsible and prosperous future of Nevada's mining industry.
