Body & Soul Pilates in Gluckstadt, MS
Conveniently located on the west side of I-55 at the Gluckstadt exit, Body & Soul Pilates is a locally owned Pilates studio offering small group and private reformer Pilates sessions.
Our 50-minute, high-energy classes offer a fun and challenging workout resulting in long lean muscles and a stronger core. With a maximum of 8 people per class, we provide an intimate setting allowing for an emphasis on the correct form to promote increased strength.
This approach to fitness helps create body awareness and facilitates the mind-body connection for an effective full-body workout.
Body & Soul Pilates is owned by Sherry Williams, PT. Sherry is a physical therapist with more than 20 years of experience in various settings. Her love for Pilates began in 2015 with her first Pilates reformer class and she has continued to learn and grow in her Pilates practice since that time.
Sherry became a Balanced Body Reformer instructor in 2020 and is currently pursuing Comprehensive Pilates Instructor training.

Akros Academy of Jiu Jitsu
Japanese Jiu-Jitsu (practiced as Judo) was introduced to the Gracie family in Brazil around 1914 by Esai Maeda, who was also known as Conde Koma. Maeda was a champion of Jiu-Jitsu and a direct student of Kano, at the Kodokan in Japan. He was born in 1878 and became a student of Judo (Kanos Jiu-Jitsu) in 1897.
In 1914, Maeda was given the opportunity to travel to Brazil as part of a large Japanese immigration colony. In Brazil, in the northern state of Para, he befriended Gastao Gracie, an influential businessman, who helped Maeda get established. To show his gratitude, Maeda offered to teach traditional Japanese Jiu-Jitsu to Gastaos oldest son, Carlos Gracie. Carlos learned for a few years and eventually passed his knowledge to his brothers.
Helio Gracie, the youngest son of Gastao and Cesalina Gracies' eight children (three were girls), was always a very physically frail child. He would run up a flight of stairs and have fainting spells, and no one could figure out why.
