About Walker Furniture
Three generations ago, in the early 1900s, our Grandfather, Isadore Alterwitz, started a small business that built mattresses in the Chicago area. As the family grew, selling furniture and mattresses continued to be part of our legacy.
It was back in 1973 that our parents, Deanne and Oscar Alterwitz, purchased Walker Furniture from the original owners, Ruth and George Walker.
I remember loading kids and dogs into our family station wagon and heading west.
Late at night, we drove over the pass on Interstate 15 and saw lights like we had never seen before. It suddenly hit home that this was soon to be our new home, our new community, and our new life.
