First Bank Texas was chartered on January 13, 1885 in the original name of First National Bank of Baird, and we have been serving the Big Country Area for more than 133 years. To better meet the needs of our customers, we opened a banking office in Clyde, Texas during 1991, a new banking facility in Abilene, Texas during April of 1995, and another new office at the corner of Buffalo Gap Road and the Winters Freeway on March 31, 2005; we opened our newest Abilene office at the corner of East North 10th and Judge Ely Blvd on December 31, 2010. We have strategically positioned our offices in Abilene to serve the entire city. On July 1, 2012, we merged four of our sister banks (First National Bank Haskell, Mid-Cities (Bedford), Munday and Stamford) into our organization and changed our name to First Bank Texas for uniformity. We recently opened our newest location on March 1, 2016 in Grapevine to broaden our demographics to an area that was growing quickly within the Metroplex.
