Miller Paint Shop

Miller Paint has a rich history of local manufacturing that began in Portland, Oregon, in the late 1800s. Founded by Ernest Miller, a muralist and scenic artist from Germany, started painting houses in the young city upon his arrival to the United States. Since there were no paint manufacturers in the region at the time, backorders on the product. shipping from the east was frequent, and the paints' performance at the time did not stand up to the demands of the rainy Pacific Northwest weather. Miller drew on his artist background and began grinding his own pigments and making his own paints. He soon became known throughout Portland for making high-quality paints with excellent color retention, formulated specifically for the Pacific Northwest. We continue our founders legacy today by still manufacturing our paint right here in Portland, Oregon. Committed to the same values of quality and innovation, our paints are Made Here. For Here.

At Miller Paint, we are committed to protecting our environment and find ways in our manufacturing process to reduce our environmental impact. As part of this commitment, we reuse tank wash water during our production of large batches of paint. We recycle paint can labels and shipping materials at our factory. In addition, we are committed to reducing our greenhouse gas emissions by using local vendors for raw materials when possible. We make our paint where we live. With our stores a part of neighborhoods throughout the Pacific Northwest, our paint does not have to travel far from our factory in northeast Portland to our shelves, reducing our total carbon footprint.
