Welcome To

Bohlken House

Take one look at the Bohlken Houses wonderful Victorian-era details and its no surprise that this once was the home of one of Hermanns best-known steamboat builders. John Bohlken built the house in 1910 for his family. But when it was completed his wife, Louisa, decided it was too big and the house sat empty for four years. Eventually, Louisa conceded and the family moved in.

Innkeeper Laurie McElroy, who purchased the home in 2018, has lovingly given the Bohlken House a new lease on life, preserving a piece of Hermann history while adding modern-day comforts and conveniences. Today, Laurie and her daughter Gracie Jane happily welcome guests with the finest of Hermann hospitality.
