Allegheny Land Trust (ALT) is an independent, non-profit organization that has been helping local people save local land in the Pittsburgh region for nearly a quarter of a century.Founded in 1993, ALT has protected nearly 2,500 acres of green space preserving our regions unique natural beauty, providing enhanced outdoor recreational opportunities, improving water quality, fostering biodiversity, and enhancing the overall quality of life for our communities.Dead Man's Hollow Conservation Area (DMH) in Boston, PA is one of many of ALT's green spaces that is open to the public. DMH was ALT's first conservation area and is still one of its most popular conservation areas due to its rich history as a thriving industrial site in the 1800s and 1900s, its folklore, and its stunning, winding trails.ALT continues to protect, maintain, and improve conservation areas like Dead Man's Hollow in the Pittsburgh region. Their mission has expanded in recent years to include innovative methods of land conservation in support of community needs for urban green space as well the addition of a professional environmental education team teaching children of all ages to understand and appreciate the natural world.
