Gary Vongsavath is no stranger to the restaurant business. His father, John Vongsavath owns Teriyaki House on Fifth Street, Marysville. John Vongsavath moved to California from Southeast Asia in the 1970s. They have worked as cooks their whole lives and opened up the Teriyaki House in the 1990s. 

In July, Gary Vongsavath opened Hai Sushi House at 905 Fifth St. Marysville. where the old Greyhound Bus Station building used to be. Gary Vongsavath and his dad remodeled the bus station to turn it into a restaurant.
