Nevada Veterans Assistance League, Inc.

The Department of Veterans Services (until 1997 known as the Nevada Commission for Veterans Affairs) was created by the Nevada Legislature in 1943. The main focus was to assist veterans and/or their dependents in obtaining veterans benefits from the US Department of Veterans Affairs.

In 1990, Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery was opened in Boulder City and in 1991 Northern Nevada Veterans Cemetery was opened in Fernley. In 1997, the Nevada Legislature authorized a skilled nursing 180-bed Veterans Home in Boulder City. The Nevada State Veterans Home opened in August.

The Nevada Veterans Assistance League, Inc (NVAL) is a non-profit 501c. NVAL was created to meet vital social, cultural, recreation, and psychological needs of the Residents at Nevada State Veterans Home, Boulder City, Nevada.

Through NVAL's actions, residents acquire a sense of security, happiness, dignity, independence, and usefulness. We hold an annual golf tournament every February at Boulder Creek Golf Club as our major fundraiser.2002 and presently has 178 residents.
