Tiffany's Restaurant

Tiffany’s Restaurant in Topeka, Indiana is a longtime fixture with a fun history. After passing through many owners as a small drive-in, Fritz and Tina Helmuth bought the restaurant in 1987 from Larry and Anita Christner, who operated the restaurant as Anita’s Drive-In. When the Helmuth’s took over there were only a few booths for seating, a gumball machine, a couple pinball machines, and a very small kitchen. The restaurant at that time seated 58 people.

Fritz had bigger things in mind, so in 1992 he enlarged the space to approximately 4,200 square feet, with seating for 194. The kitchen was expanded and the menu went from burgers and fries to full meals, that were more like home cooking.

The name for Tiffany’s came during a conversation between Fritz and Tina as they drove to Chicago one day. The parents of four children, they considered naming the place after one of their kids. As they worked their way through the birth order – Tim, Jennifer, and Jason – they decided the name of their last-born, Tiffany, was just the right name for the restaurant. Opening day was June 6th, 1987, which happened to be Tiffany’s birthday.

It has always been Fritz and Tina’s ambition to create an environment where guests feel welcome, friends gather for happy occasions, and satisfied customers look forward to their next visit.
