About Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford & Cecil Counties

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford & Cecil Counties originated in 1990 when community leaders in Aberdeen, Maryland, came together to establish a safe and educational environment for children after school hours. Starting with 40 kids in a church basement, the initiative quickly grew into a network of four Clubs across Harford County, offering essential resources and mentorship to local youth. Similarly, a parallel effort in Cecil County began in 1999 to address the unique challenges rural communities face in providing comprehensive youth programming. With the support of AmeriCorps NCCC, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cecil County expanded to multiple locations, committed to reaching every corner of the county with their mission. In 2018, these two entities merged, forming Maryland's largest Boys & Girls Clubs organization. Together, they annually serve over 7,500 young individuals, recognized for their steadfast dedication to enriching lives and empowering youth.

For more than thirty years, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford & Cecil Counties have been beacons of hope and opportunity, known for their unwavering commitment to reaching more children more frequently. Their diverse programs in Character and Leadership Development, Health & Life Skills, Education & Career Development, the Arts, and Sports, Fitness, and Recreation have profoundly impacted countless lives, nurturing each child's potential to thrive and positively contribute to their communities. Moving forward, they envision a future where every child has access to the tools and guidance needed to achieve their full potential, embodying the nationwide Boys & Girls Clubs ethos as a place where youth can dream, aspire, and ultimately, succeed.
