About Cooperative Education & Internship Association (CEIA)

Cooperative Education & Internship Association (CEIA)

The Cooperative Education & Internship Association (CEIA) is the premier organization that advances experiential learning through cooperative education and internship programs. Established in September 1963, CEIA has remained committed to providing professional development, resources, and networking opportunities for educators and employers engaged in work-integrated learning.

As a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, incorporated in the State of Indiana, CEIA has a long-standing history of leadership in the field. The association’s first annual conference was held in Detroit, Michigan, at the Ford Motor Company, where industry and academia came together to shape the future of cooperative education. Over the decades, CEIA has evolved, adapting to the changing landscape of experiential education while maintaining its core mission.

Today, CEIA continues to set the standard for excellence in cooperative education and internship program management. CEIA empowers practitioners with the tools and knowledge necessary to enhance student learning and career readiness through an annual national conference, specialized training initiatives, ongoing research, and professional publications.

With a legacy spanning over 60 years, CEIA remains dedicated to fostering innovation, collaboration, and best practices in experiential education. Join us in advancing the future of work-integrated learning.
