Your Neighborhood Nurse, LLC was founded by Dr. Jaamela Howell-Murray, DNP, MSN-PH, FNP-BC, RN, SCRN, affectionately known as “Dr. J”, with a clear mission: to improve community health through education, accessibility, and compassionate care. Born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida, Dr. J began her nursing journey in the 8th grade and has since cultivated decades of experience across multiple healthcare disciplines, including Neurology, Oncology, and Orthopedics. After earning her BSN from Florida A&M University, her MSN in Public Health from Grand Canyon University, and her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Florida State University, she now serves as both a nurse practitioner and university professor.

Your Neighborhood Nurse, LLC reflects Dr. J’s lifelong commitment to empowering her community through health education and preventative care. With nearly 10 years in acute care and a deep understanding of the social factors that influence wellness, Dr. J created this practice to bridge gaps in healthcare and address health disparities head-on. Rooted in the belief that knowledge is power, the practice provides personalized, community-focused care to help individuals and families build healthier, more informed lives.
