Founded in 1933 during the Great Depression, Navy Federal Credit Union began with a simple but powerful mission. Seven Navy Department employees came together to support one another by creating a financial cooperative that offered affordable loans, secure savings, and the opportunity to build long-term financial stability. Their vision was rooted in trust, shared purpose, and a commitment to helping members achieve their financial goals.

From those humble beginnings, Navy Federal has grown into the world’s largest credit union, proudly serving more than 15 million member-owners.
