About Cosumnes River Prescribed Burn Association

The Cosumnes River Prescribed Burn Association (CRPBA) is dedicated to bringing prescribed fire back to the landscape of Southern El Dorado County, California. The association facilitates community burning by uniting landowners, volunteers, and trained practitioners to safely apply fire. This collaborative effort aims to reduce hazardous fuels, restore forest health, and create defensible space around homes and infrastructure, particularly in areas affected by the Caldor Fire.

The CRPBA builds local capacity through hands-on training, mentorship, and shared equipment, empowering residents to manage fuels and mitigate wildfire risk. By fostering partnerships and preparedness, the association strengthens community resilience, accelerates recovery, and reduces future wildfire threats across the Cosumnes watershed.
