About Vulture City Ghost Town
Vulture City Ghost Town
Nestled in the rugged Arizona desert, Vulture City Ghost Town stands as a powerful tribute to the spirit of the American West. In 1863, prospector Henry Wickenburg discovered the Vulture Mine — a strike that would become the most productive gold mine in Arizona’s history. Around it, Vulture City was born, booming with life, labor, and lore. Today, the town has been meticulously restored to preserve its rich past while offering modern visitors an immersive, educational, and unforgettable journey into history.
With over 16 original buildings — including a brothel, assay office, saloon and the infamous hanging tree — guests are invited to walk in the footsteps of pioneers, miners, and outlaws. From guided tours and self-paced exploration to live reenactments and family-friendly events, Vulture City brings the legends of the Old West vividly to life — often with the help of the Wickenburg Marshals, a dedicated troupe of Old West performers who entertain and educate through gunfights, comedy skits, and historical reenactments.
Open mid October through mid May, Thursdays - Sundays
