Quality Jobs Council

In mid-2021, CWP, along with its Columbia-Willamette Workforce Collaborative (CWWC) partners, Workforce Southwest Washington and Worksystems, brought together 19 participants from various sectors. These included businesses, workers, labor groups, service providers, and government agencies from the Portland-Southwest Washington Metropolitan area. The goal? To create a regional plan for developing quality jobs.

This Council had a few key objectives:

Define what makes a job a "quality job" for our region.

Offer guidance on standards employers can adopt.

Identify resources to help employers apply this framework to their workplaces.

Develop a clear roadmap of actions and implementation steps.

The Quality Jobs Framework was created in close collaboration with the Council and was based on:

A thorough research approach, including a review of existing regional case studies.

A nationwide look at best practices.

Interviews with relevant organizations and leaders throughout the region to pinpoint the core components of a quality job.
