Youth of the Year

The Youth of the Year (YOY) program, hosted by Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley in Arizona, stands as the pinnacle of recognition for club members, celebrating their dedication to community service, academic excellence, and leadership. Sponsored nationally by Toyota Financial and supported locally by various businesses and individuals, the program selects candidates who demonstrate outstanding service to their club and community, academic achievements, and strong moral character. Participants undergo a rigorous six-month preparation period, enhancing their public speaking and presentation skills through workshops aimed at helping them articulate their personal stories and visions for the future. The program not only highlights these young individuals' achievements but also supports them toward higher education with scholarships, significantly contributing to a higher graduation rate among participants compared to the national average.
