Pruning Programs

Pruning is essential to keeping Boise’s beautiful urban forest healthy, safe, and thriving! While routine pruning is the responsibility of adjacent property owners under the Boise Tree Ordinance, the City of Boise also offers limited support through contract pruning, Community Forestry staff, and our Volunteer Tree Steward program. Homeowners can even get a free permit to hire a licensed tree service for their own pruning needs. Plus, the city runs a pruning cycle that covers Boise section by section every 7-8 years, focusing on hazard reduction and clearance pruning for public trees. Together, we’re working to keep our City of Trees safe and looking its best!
