Electrocardiography

Echocardiography uses sound waves (ultrasonography) to specifically image the heart and its internal structures and function. Electrocardiography (ECG) is the measurement of the hearts electrical current as a means of studying the action of the heart muscle. Both of these diagnostic techniques are useful in diagnosing and assessing response to therapy for a variety of heart conditions. When necessary, our animal hospital is able to perform ECGs via remote telephone transmission. Echocardiography and more involved ECGs can also be performed in our animal hospital by Dr. Janet Olson of Veterinary Cardiology Specialists, a local board-certified veterinary cardiologist.
