The F-1 (Academic Student) Visa category allows you to enter the United States as a full-time student at a college, university, seminary, conservatory, academic high school, or other institution or training program in linguistics. You must be enrolled in a program or curriculum of study that leads to a degree, diploma, or certificate, and your school must be authorized by the US government to accept international students. If you have already entered the United States with another type of visa, you could opt for the F-1 visa through a change of status.
