Fillings

Fillings

You only get one set of adult teeth in your lifetime. Unfortunately, all too often bacteria are allowed to eat away at the tooth and cause cavities. Although this compromises your teeth, it doesn't have to be the end of the story. Our staff can examine the extent of your problems and determine if fillings could offer you the inexpensive and viable solution you've been looking for.

A Long History of Use

Amalgam fillings have a long history of success. For nearly 200 years, they've been used to offer relief to those suffering from tooth decay. Also known as silver or mercury fillings, amalgam fillings primarily consist of:

  • Mercury
  • Silver
  • Tin
  • Copper
  • Zinc

When combined, these materials create a soft material that can be easily formed to fit your cavity. It only takes a few minutes for the amalgam to harden, giving us plenty of time to adequately shape them first. While pure mercury is toxic, the mercury found in amalgam fillings is trapped within the hardened final product. Amalgam fillings have been deemed safe, and they have certainly stood the test of time.

Composite Fillings

For that tricky decay that occurs on teeth that are visible and decrease your overall aesthetic appeal, there is an alternative that is much newer and able to provide you with a natural-looking smile while removing decay and filling cavities. Composite fillings have the consistency of modeling clay, and our staff uses a bright blue light to harden them. The final result is a strong and resistant product that matches your natural teeth and improves the appearance of your smile.
