Non-Profit Organizations

There are many different types of non-profit organizations. Public charities, Private Foundations, and Private Operating Foundations are all different types of 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations. They must be organized for an exempt purpose to qualify for tax-exempt status. The application for exempt status is complex. Upon acceptance, donors are able to deduct their contributions to the non-profit organization on their tax returns. Which type of non-profit organization you chose depends on who you expect your donors to be, the relationship of individuals on the governing board, and the type of work the non-profit will be engaged in. Call to discuss your non-profit organization options.
