Dredging

Dredging is the process of removing sediment and debris from the bottom of a body of water, such as a lake, river, or harbor. Dredging can be done manually with shovels and buckets, or mechanically with heavy machinery. The purpose of dredging is to deepen and maintain navigable waterways, remove accumulated sediment that can cause flooding or environmental problems, create new land for development, and improve water quality.
