Once a year, we gently harvest the soft, versatile wool from the sheep and begin the process of transforming this naturally renewable resource. Removal of the wool is important to the health of sheep and is done by hand-picked shearers who have been coming here for decades. Our wool remains in the U.S. supporting American processing and manufacturing and providing comfort, beauty, and performance in a variety of products. We were proud to be the first ranch in the world to achieve certification under the voluntary Responsible Wool Standard, which addresses the welfare of sheep and the land they graze on.
Today, consumers and brands are finding their way to the heritage and sustainable appeal of the Imperial Stock Ranch wool program. Imperial Stock Ranch was honored to partner with Ralph Lauren in providing yarn for the Opening Ceremony uniform for Team USA at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. And we are honored again, to be part of the story behind the Imperial Stock Ranch American Merino yarns provided by National Spinning Co., Inc., and chosen by Ralph Lauren for both the Opening and Closing Ceremony uniforms for Team USA at the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018.
