At Global Ties ABQ, we believe that people play a pivotal role in shaping our world alongside policy. That's why we proudly partner with the U.S. Department of State to implement the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). Since its launch in 1940, the IVLP has been a transformative professional exchange program, welcoming thousands of emerging international leaders to the United States each year.
With a rich history, the IVLP has hosted over 200,000 up-and-coming leaders from around the globe, including prominent figures such as former chiefs of state, heads of government, Nobel laureates, and countless private and nonprofit leaders. These exceptional individuals visit cities across the U.S., immersing themselves in tailored programs that align with their professional interests and support the foreign policy goals of the U.S. government.
An IVLP participant's journey begins with a nomination by a U.S. Embassy in their home country. The program spans two to three weeks, commencing in Washington, D.C., with a focus on the U.S. federal government. The participants then embark on an immersive experience, visiting four or more communities across the nation.
When these emerging leaders arrive in Albuquerque as part of their IVLP experience, Global Ties ABQ takes pride in curating a customized itinerary. Over two to four days, we arrange a series of meetings with local leaders, organizations, groups, and businesses. They engage in cultural activities, explore volunteer opportunities, savor dinners with local hosts, and are provided with hotel accommodations and ground transportation.
Shaping Our World, Together is at the core of what we do at Global Ties ABQ. We foster connections, create memorable experiences, and contribute to the global landscape by empowering emerging leaders to make a positive impact in their respective fields.
