K9S 4 KIDS is a compassionate initiative under CAPC that allows our dedicated volunteers to bring their certified and well-socialized dogs to local Group Homes, Emergency Shelters, and the Juvenile Detention Facility, offering crucial support to children who have experienced trauma. Through this program, children are provided with the opportunity to form loving bonds with these gentle dogs, offering a sense of normalcy and emotional connection, especially in stressful environments. To ensure the safety and effectiveness of the program, participating dogs must hold certification in a Canine Good Citizenship Program or equivalent, provide proof of licensing and up-to-date rabies vaccinations, and undergo background checks, confidentiality commitments, mandated reporting, and Livescan fingerprinting. K9S 4 KIDS is not just about canine companionship but also about creating a safe and nurturing space for all involved.
