In adherence to Texas State-Specific Requirements, Atmos Energy is committed to assisting schools in operating safely and dependably. Since 2004, the State of Texas has mandated that all public, charter, and accredited private schools test their natural gas piping systems for leaks every two years. To comply with state law, each school facility must provide documentation confirming the successful inspection of their natural gas piping by a licensed plumber, qualified school employee, or another approved person. Failure to submit this documentation before the school year's commencement may result in the interruption of natural gas service until the required inspection is provided.
