Almanor Park

The grand opening of Almanor Park on August 19th marked a significant milestone in community recreation, courtesy of the Almanor Recreation and Park District (ARPD). Situated conveniently at 101 Meadowbrook Loop in Chester, adjacent to the TCCP ball field and the Almanor Recreation Center, this newest addition offers an array of amenities to enhance outdoor leisure. From two outdoor ping pong tables and a foosball game to a chess table and cornhole games, there's no shortage of fun activities to enjoy with family and friends.

The celebratory event featured remarks from ARPD Board Members Susan Espana and Terra Ayers, along with Plumas County Supervisor Tom McGowan, underscoring the collaborative effort behind the park's creation. Refreshments provided by Little Pink Box Bakery and the Chester Girl Scouts added to the festive atmosphere, while lucky attendees walked away with raffle prizes generously donated by local businesses. Almanor Park's realization was made possible through a combination of Prop 68 State Parks grant funds, contributions from the Truman Collins Family Foundation, and private donors, as well as the invaluable support of community members and businesses who volunteered their time, equipment, and resources. With its inclusive amenities and community-driven ethos, Almanor Park stands as a testament to the power of collective action in fostering vibrant recreational spaces for all to enjoy.
