Parks and Recreation

At the City of North Plains, we're dedicated to cultivating vibrant community spaces that enhance the well-being and livability of our residents. Our Parks and Recreation Division, operating under the umbrella of the Public Works Department, is at the forefront of this mission, overseeing the maintenance and development of nine parks, a community garden, and scenic pedestrian paths along Ghost Creek and West Union. Beyond mere infrastructure, we're committed to promoting active lifestyles through a range of recreational opportunities. Partnering with Ride with GPS, we offer Cycle North Plains, empowering residents and visitors to explore our picturesque locale through curated cycling routes. Additionally, in collaboration with the YMCA, we're excited to introduce three youth sports camps starting in summer 2023, catering to the diverse interests of our community's young athletes.

Guided by the Parks Master Plan, our division ensures that every initiative aligns with our overarching goals of community engagement, health promotion, and environmental stewardship. Funding for these endeavors stems from a variety of sources, including Parks System Development Charges levied on new developments, General Fund revenues, grants, and generous contributions from our valued partner, the North Plains Parks Foundation—a testament to the collaborative spirit that defines our approach to enhancing the recreational landscape of North Plains.
