The Mt. Zion Police Department, comprising 11 sworn officers and two non-sworn members, is dedicated to serving a community of over 6,000 residents. Operating from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM, Monday through Friday, the non-sworn members manage incoming calls and assist lobby visitors, ensuring continuous support for the community. With a crime rate 63% below the national average and violent crimes 68% lower than the national average, Mt. Zion is a remarkably safe place to live. This commitment to safety was recognized in 2015 when the village was named the 13th safest city in Illinois. The mission of the Mt. Zion Police Department is to reduce crime, maintain peace and order, preserve citizens' rights, and protect individuals and property through proactive policing and crime prevention efforts.
