The Sutter County Museum showcases the rich history of the Yuba-Sutter region, spanning from the Native American era to the present day. This narrative is conveyed through a combination of permanent and temporary exhibits, as well as various public programs.

Our mission is to share local stories to strengthen community bonds, inspire the celebration of our diverse cultural heritage, and demonstrate how understanding the past prepares us for the future.
History and Support
The Museum was established in 1975, funded by Howard and Norma Harter, the Sutter County Historical Society, and other private donors, and was gifted to the Sutter County Board of Supervisors as a community asset. It has since been expanded multiple times through the generosity of private donors. The Museum is a department of Sutter County and receives additional support from the Museum Association, a 501(c)(3) organization.
