Community & The Restoration Economy

This diverse programming area seeks to foster economic activity that restores degraded systems and maintains the services provided by natural systems.

We conceive of an economy as more than a monetary based system, and foremost as a system of exchanges based on reciprocity and relationship. We draw on the Leopoldian concept of the Land Community to develop restorative economies for societies and ecologies. Here in the Arizona-Sonora Borderlands, our partner organizations have a long history of building skills and exploring innovative economic models which allow people to care for the places they live within.
