Take Two Live Musical Entertainment
TED HORWITZ is a veteran of the pop music business, performing professionally since 1965 in many diverse musical projects. He is a tremendously talented musician and vocalist who has perfect pitch and can play keyboards of all kinds, guitar, and violin. He also has developed a great ear for pop/rock music production, and functions as director, live sound and recording engineer, arranger, and producer.
As a keyboardist in the 70s Top 40 / Rock band "ATR" (Action, Thrills, and Romance), Ted toured the nationwide club circuit. He has opened for The Platters, the Eagles' Joe Walsh and The James Gang, and Otis Day and The Knights. Ted has backed 60s rock legends "The Shangri-Las" and Freddie "Boom Boom" Cannon, and worked with Norma Jean of "Chic" (yowzah yowzah yowzah). He has also appeared with Elvis' vocal backup group The Jordanaires and backed several nationally-known Elvis tribute artists, including the great Ryan Pelton.
Since moving from central Ohio to the Northwest in 2013, Ted has performed with many Gorge and Portland musicians and bands of note, including Curtis Salgado, Ron Steen, Laura Cunard, Kevin Selfe, Ben Rice, Terry Robb, AC Porter, the late Rick Hulett, Ben Bonham, Ed Dietrich, Tim Ortlieb, Tracy Klas, Jeff Carrell, Al Hare, Nolan Hare, Kerry Williams, Tim Mayer, Mark Daly, Ryan Kolberg, Mike Stillman, Jon Cyparski, Alonzo Garbanzo (Dennis Castanares), Ryan MacAlexander, Randy Bell, Les Vaughn, Jim Hurley ("Coach"), Jeff Minnick, Mike Grodner, Dennis Williams, Paul Viemeister, Jose Maya, Steve Alford, Cory George, Justin Merritt, Steve May, and the bands "Smoke On The Water", "Cool Change PDX", "Willy & Nelson,", "The Shannon Roberts Trio", "The Green neck Daredevils", and the "Kingz Ambassadors" reggae band. He plays "Piano and More" regularly at the beautiful historic Columbia Gorge Hotel in Hood River, Oregon.
Back in central Ohio, Ted was a fixture at Columbus's The Top Steak House piano bar for years. He also performed with singer/restauranteur Pat Landusky, including a long stint at Columbus' famous Jai Lai restaurant. In addition to solo work, Ted has played with "The Eddie Pollina Band", "Tommy B and Company", "The Zen Band", "Direct Energy", the popular country band "Raizin' Kane", and countless other top-notch groups.
In addition, Ted has provided keyboard and guitar accompaniment in theatre orchestras for shows by local choral groups such as Worthington Chorus and Westerville Song Spinners. He teaches and does studio work as well.
There are better keyboard players, better singers, better guitarists, and better sound engineers, .... but NOBODY does it all like Ted Horwitz!
