Lutheran Fire and Lightning Insurance Company was formed in August 1933 when Lutheran congregation members of Freistatt and Stones Prairie met in Monett for the purpose of organizing an insurance company to serve Lutherans and their families. The meeting was called to order by Fred Hunke and Louie Erke served as Chairman. The by-laws were reviewed and accepted. The following Directors were elected Louie Erke, Jake Deschner, August Kleiboeker of Freistatt and George Schad, Elmer Rupp, and Fred Hunke of Purdy. At the first annual meeting held August 25th 1934 in the Ozark Fruit Building in Monett W.R. Boehne and G.W. Boehne of Lockwood were elected to the Board of Directors.
From this humble beginning, Lutheran Fire and Lightning Insurance has served Lutherans and their Family members throughout the state of Missouri since 1933.
