Facet Joint Injections

A facet joint injection is a minimally invasive procedure utilized for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in addressing facet joint pain. Facet joints, small bony protrusions situated between and behind adjacent vertebrae, aid in spinal stability and range of motion. However, conditions like arthritis and facet joint syndrome can lead to inflammation and severe pain in these joints.

For those experiencing anxiety about the procedure, light intravenous sedation is available. Patients are escorted to our procedure suite and positioned on an operating table. The targeted area is cleansed, and a local anesthetic is administered to numb the skin and surrounding tissue.

Once the area is sufficiently numb, your physician will inject a mixture of local anesthetic and corticosteroid medication into the affected facet joints. Following the injection, the needle is removed, and the patient is transferred to the recovery area. Trust Desert Pain Specialists for comprehensive care and relief from facet joint discomfort.
